With spring coming up and the weather changing, it’s important to make sure your house is ready! The start of spring is a great time to do some routine check ups on your different household appliances, as well as any spring cleaning chores that are important to keeping your house in its best condition. Below is a short list to get your spring checklist started:

  1. Inspect your exteriors.

    1. The frigid conditions of winter can leave behind some wear and tear on your gutters. It’s important to clean out any debris left behind, as well as checking for any cracks caused by ice.

    2. Inspect your roof for any clear signs of damage or leaks.

    3. Inspect your siding for any deterioration or cracks. If your house is made of brick, check for any deterioration in the mortar.

    4. Ensure that the seal around your window remains intact, and that there are no signs of damage.

  2. Check your Air Conditioner.

    1. Clean up any sticks, dirt, or debris that may have accumulated around your air conditioning unit to ensure maximum air flow.

    2. Change the filter on your AC, especially if it collected dirt and debris throughout the winter.

  3. Interior maintenance.

    1. It is recommended by the National Fire Protection Association to replace your smoke detector and carbon monoxide batteries once a year. At the start of spring, it’s great to add this item to your checklist as you make other maintenance checks on your house!

    2. Ensure your lawnmower is ready to go! It’s best to check that your lawnmower is still in working condition before you truly need it, so the start of spring is a great time to check it and get it tuned up if needed!

Depending on your home and the appliances that you have, your house may need more or less maintenance in the spring! You may need to check your water heater, inspect your deck, trim your trees, or more! This short list is a great starting point, but make sure to look into what exactly your house and appliances may need!
