Who We Are

After graduating from Ball State University with a double finance degree (Corporate Finance and Real Estate), Derek worked as a stockbroker for 6 years and founded and sold three companies prior to his career in real estate. The Gutting Group was established in 2000 and has since grown to be ranked within the top 1% of all Indianapolis area real estate agents. His passion for the real estate business includes helping his team of agents become the best real estate practitioners in the country, representing their clients with the highest level of representation as well as being heavily involved with real estate investments. Derek has personally been investing in real estate including single family and condo rentals (both long term and short term) in Indiana and Florida, lease to own’s, airbnb’s and rehabbing and selling. Helping his clients with their investment needs couples both his passions (real estate and numbers). When Derek isn’t running his real estate business, he is spending time with his two boys, traveling, exercising outdoors (walk, run or hiking), golfing, skiing, bowling, being with friends and reading books or listening to podcasts on how to continually improve and live his best life.

Matt joined The Gutting Group as our Lead Listing Specialists in 2021. While he is recently new to the Gutting Group he has been in the real estate world since 2016 and is eager to help you with all your real estate needs. In his free time he enjoys life with his wife and 2 boys, running, yoga, golfing & generally being active. He is also a big sports fan & an avid traveler – he’s visited 46 of the 50 states with a goal to visit all 50 by 2025!

Real estate has always been part of my life. Growing up around the industry sparked a long-standing passion that eventually led me to pursue a double major in Finance and Real Estate at the Kelley School of Business. After earning my license in the fall of 2023, joining The Gutting Group felt like a natural next step. I’m an investor myself and enjoy the strategy behind real estate just as much as the relationships it creates. Whether I’m helping a first-time homebuyer or working alongside seasoned clients, my goal is to bring insight, energy, and clear communication to every transaction. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me watching sports, lifting, running, skiing, spending time with friends and family, or out on the golf course.

Jocelyn obtained her real estate license in 2020 while preparing to transition out of the military after 13 years of service. Her passion for adding value and service to others has given her success serving both the central Indiana and Houston, Texas real estate markets. Jocelyn studied Biology at Ball State University and earned her bachelor’s in business administration at Purdue. She lives in (what she refers to as “Hamilton County’s hidden gem”) Cicero with her daughter Hailey and mini-golden doodle, Charlie. She’s a member of Itown church and CrossFit Westfield. She enjoys all things outdoors and time with the people she loves. Her goal is to create lasting friendships with her clients and to be a trusted advisor in seamlessly navigating their real estate needs.
